Kolinsky brush for traditional acrylic shaping.

How to care for a 100% Kolinsky acrylic brush

Step #1
Before using the brush: Spray the bristles with cleanser to remove any hardener that
holds the bristles in place. Then dip the brush into the monomer (acrylic liquid) a few times and
wipe (brush) on a paper towel (kitchen paper, absorbent paper NOTE: not toilet paper or cotton wool).
Step #2
In use: Keep the brush clean and do not let the acrylic harden on the bristles. Hardened acrylic is difficult to remove and will damage the brush. Keep the brush clean by wiping it on paper between uses.
Step #3
After each use: Clean the brush thoroughly after each use by dipping it in monomer and wiping off any remaining acrylic onto paper. Gently shape the bristles by rolling the brush on the paper while pulling the brush. Store the brush upright or on its side so that the bristles do not touch anything.
Step #4
Deep cleaning and storage: If product has hardened on your brush, you can do a deep cleaning by immersing it in acetone (clean, not nail polish remover as it contains water, oils, etc.) for about 5 minutes to soften the acrylic. Gently scrape/wipe off any remaining acrylic until it is completely removed. If the acrylic does not come off easily, do not tear it, but let the brush soak more. Finish the deep cleaning by moistening the bristles in monomer for a few minutes. Acetone can dry out the bristles so you want to keep the bristles moist with monomer. Wipe off any excess liquid on a paper towel.
